Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire (HFHGE) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Driver's Assistant for their ReStore location in Bakersfield, California. The Driver’s Assistant reports directly to the ReStore Manager. The successful applicant must have excellent communication and customer service skills, possess a driving record acceptable to HFHGE and its insurance company, and be able to pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screen and background check. Work schedule is currently Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay Rate: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour.
  • Eligible for health insurance benefits after successful completion of a 90-day introductory period.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid CA driver's license.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
General Duties/Roles & Responsibilities
  • On-site pickup of in-kind donations.
  • On-site customer service with donors and potential donors.
  • Maintains the upkeep and cleanliness of the ReStore vehicles.
  • Unloads truck upon return to the ReStore.
  • Unloading in-kind donation receipts and fuel receipts off trucks daily.
  • Works closely with Warehouse Lead on incoming donations and communicates effectively with Lead regarding staging of items.
  • Provides direction to volunteers on staging and processing procedures.
  • Maintain all day-to-day drivers’ paperwork; including contacting and scheduling or rescheduling donors, log an HFH estimated value of donated items on board and provide accurate numbers in each specific category on how many donations were picked up.
Skills & Abilities
  • Initiative-taking, dependable, and willingness to serve others.
  • Spanish speaking is preferable but not required.
  • Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission and values.
